Nurture Inspiration

Our next instalment features musicians Soukah, Moshino, Kyoshe and photographer Tan Vuong. Three producers coming from different corners of the planet who connected via previous releases on our label started forming friendship and nurturing inspiration, which grew into this project where each producer remixes a track from the other two resulting in 2 remixes per artist. ‘The Remixes’ EP is inspired by camaraderie, supportive spirit and the joy of connecting with other creatives.

Tan: My name is Tan Vuong. A funny backstory to my Instagram name tannwashere—it actually came about because tanwashere with one “n” was already taken. With my photos I want to mark the places I’ve been and share with the world what I’ve seen there. I shoot both film and digital. My favorite digital camera is the Fujifilm X100T, and I own two film cameras: the Yashica T3 and Olympus Mju II. My go-to film is, surprise surprise, Cinestill 800T, because it captures perfectly the feeling I’m after— the illusion of dystopia and reality.

Favourite mood you like to recreate and express via your work?

Tan: This really gets to the core of it. When I’m out shooting, I stop and take in the atmosphere with all my senses—how the air feels and smells, how people look or behave. If the mood feels right, the photo just happens on its own, no staging or planning needed.

Soukah is a producer & DJ from southern Germany known for his dark and cinematic soundscapes. Cementing his name in the dubstep scene, he has had releases on labels such as Rarefied, Duploc, Silent Motion, DeepHeads, DeepDarkDangerous, cutcross to name a few. His style ranges from chilled, old school hip-hop influences across UK-bass tracks to sub-loaded forward-thinking club bangers – yet never forgetting the gothic, industrial roots that shaped his initial foray into music.

Veselin Padolski a.k.a Moshino has been making music for the past 15 years with a particular taste for the UK sound system culture. His debut album ‘Eternal Bonds’ came out last year and his follow up releases are keeping the spirit of certified club bangers.

What has photography taught you about life?

Tan: Photography has helped me organize my thoughts on difficult days. I often shoot alone on photo walks, and that’s the best feeling—time just passes without me noticing. That’s when I know my mind is clear and the photos will be good. Coming back to the images later is also part of the magic, because it allows me to interpret myself almost like an outsider. Photography is my way of expressing myself, and street photography especially has been an irreplaceable form of therapy for me.

Hey there! I’m Kyoshe, Born in Cincinnati, OH, now vibing in Covington, KY. I specialize in crafting 140 BPM dark dubstep, using sound as a creative outlet to express my emotions. I’m lucky to have a wonderfully supportive wife and three amazing daughters, aged 8, 11, and 13, who inspire me every day. The 140 community is one of the coolest and most supportive around, and I love connecting with others who share this passion. Let’s ride the wave of bass together!
